Middle School SS Newsletter and Activities January 9-13, 2017
Geography – We will finish off our unit on Japan and the Koreas this week and take an exam on Wednesday. We will next visit China, Mongolia and Taiwan on our trip around the world. Remember to keep up with your Landmark presentation which is now on a three week rotation. If you are unsure when you are presenting, check the schedule in class. We will also continue playing the “Where in the World is …” game which targets location skills.
World History – We will finish our unit on the Ancient Hebrews and take an exam on Wednesday. We will next travel to Ancient Greece and use the material to prepare for the annual Greek Gods play, “The Mystery of Who Stole the Snake’s Rattle”. We are about half way through the Stock Market Game and will spend some time updating our portfolios on Friday.
US History – We will continue our study of American Government next week. The material is some of the most important we will cover this year so students need to keep up, focus on the material and ask questions as we go through the material. We will have several short pop quizzes along the way to assess progress. We will also be focusing on critical thinking skills, working on creating full answers to questions, understanding perspective and bias in primary sources and building depth of understanding.
