Middle School Newsletter – September 19-23, 2016
 
Geography - We begin our study of the Earth’s climate, environment and resources this week and we will start weather and climate.  To celebrate Constitution Week, we will explore interesting facts about our Constitution each day.  Please keep up with the material and feel free to ask questions during and after class.  Have a grand week!
 
World History – This week we will finish our study of the Fertile Crescent civilizations and prepare for a Thursday exam.  You will use the example of Hammurabi and create your own Code of GSS on Tuesday and we will have a Jeopardice review of the material on Wednesday.  We will also begin the Stock Market Game on Monday by reviewing the rules in our groups.
 
US History - We will celebrate Constitution Week with information bits each day as part of our lesson.  The lessons this week will focus on the 13 Original English Colonies.  We will watch a video that may shed some light on the Salem Witch trials mid-week. 
 
Club News
 
Aegean Service – The Aegean Service Club will meet Monday after school from 2:30 – 3:30PM.  Teachers and staff members that would like to have students stop by and help can contact us at [email protected] or contact any member.
 
GSS Press Corps – GSS Press Corps will meet Monday, September 19 after school from 2:30 – 3:30PM.  Students will be finishing off the editing of GSS News Broadcast 2.
 
KYA – KYA Students will meet Tuesday, September 20 from 2:30 – 3:30PM.  The date we will attend the conference in Louisville has changed to December 15-17 due to an unforeseen conflict.  A parent letter will be sent home in the first week of October filled with information on the conference and due dates for scholarships, forms and fees.
 
Y-Club – Y-Club will meet Wednesday, September 21 from 2:30 – 3:15PM.  Officer elections and the first service project will be on the agenda.  A discussion of the We Day program and GSS involvement will also take place/
Film Club – Film Club will meet on September 22 and 23 from 2:30 – 3:30PM.  The theme for September is Law and Order and members will make their selections on Tuesday in class.
 
There have been many changes in the club schedule and the calendar for October should reflect all of the changes and be accurate for all Middle School activities except Youth Choir which will begin later in the month.  Thanks for your patience and the opportunity to work with your students.
