Middle School SS Newsletter and Activities February 20-24, 2017
 
Geography - This week we continue our study of South Africa.  I was fortunate enough to visit there last year and will share some of my pictures and stories to enrich the material.  We will also prepare for playing our “in house” version of the Stock Market Game and start plotting investments. 
 
World History - It is the fourth full week to work on the play.  Make sure you practice and work on learning lines and action as homework.  We have 1 week to prepare, so keep on task.  We will also start work on a new scene for the play, a GSS tradition. 
 
US History - This week we examine learning centers and continue presentations.  Make sure you follow all rules and guidelines, as they are important parts of your grade.  Don’t forget to cite sources and create resource slide for information and PICTURES.  Finally, don’t forget to bring your study guide to class each day to get the material needed.
 
Activities
 
KUNA -  All KUNA students will meet on February 21-22 & 27-28 & March 1 from 2:30 – 3:30 PM.  Drumming practice and booth construction begins this week.
 
Creative Writing – Creative Writing will meet in the Computer Lab from 2:30 – 3:30 PM on Monday February 13.
 
GSS Press Corps – Press Corps will meet from 2:30 – 3:30 PM on Friday February
24.
 
Y-Club – Y-Club will meet on Wednesday February 22 from 2:30 – 3:30 PM in Mr. Myers Room.  The Shoe Drive for KUNA will be discussed.
 
KJHS – The KJHS meeting for February has been postponed due to a shift in the faculty meeting.  Look for a new meeting date in the near future as the Downtown Scavenger Hunt is just a few months away.
 
Film Club – Film Club will meet on Thursday and Friday February 23 & 24 from 2:30 – 3:30 PM.  This month’s film will be The Manchurian Candidate, a Cold War classic.
 
Drama Club – Drama Club is just a month away!  Meetings begin right after we return from KUNA on March 8.
