Middle School SS Newsletter & Activities October 31 – November 4
Geography (6th Grade) - This week we present our 16 Minute Halloween presentations and finish up work on the Pacific World. We will create a brochure on a Pacific Island of choice later and also return to Landmark presentations on Friday.
World History (7th Grade) - We will finish off Ancient Egypt with an exam on Wednesday and begin a new unit on Early India. We will examine the culture and history of the region and pay particular attention to religion. Next week we will examine the Hindu Gods and make a poster of one we find of interest.
US History (8th Grade) - This week we begin our study of the American Revolution. You will be creating timeline tiles to tell the story and you well help create the exam. We will also start evaluating some primary sources and see what people from the period have to say.
Activity Schedule
KYA – KYA will meet on Tuesday November 1 from 2:30 – 3:30 PM. Students are reminded of the deadlines for scholarships and fees and forms. The forms will be distributed at his meeting along with a parent information letter. We will finish off bills for submission and make final decisions on roles for the conference. Deadline for scholarship applications is November 3. The deadline for fees and forms is November 14.
KJHS – KJHS will meet from 2:30 – 3:15 PM on Wednesday November 2. The main topic will be the annual Art Contest.
Student Council – Student Council will meet on Thursday November 2 from 2:30 – 3:30 PM. Plans for the next school service project and discussion of welcome packs for the school open house will be discussed.
Press Corps – Press Corps has been asked to take part in a special project for Open House. A video with reporters interviewing students, staff and teachers will be shot for use at Open House and for the school website. Press Corps will meet Friday November 4.
Aegean Service – Aegean Service will meet Friday November 4 from 2:30 – 3:30 PM. Recycling and outdoor cleanup will be the focus of this weeks work.
Vintage Gaming Club – Vintage Gaming Club will meet Monday November 7 from 2:30 – 3:30 PM. Atari 2400, Intelivision and Nintendo 6400 will be the featured gaming systems.
