Middle School Newsletter – October 10 – 14, 2016
Social Studies
Geography (6th Grade) - We will begin our unit on The Pacific World this week. The 2 nd round of Landmark Presentations will return on Friday, so students should be prepared to share. Make sure i-pads are charged up and ready to go when you get to class so we can load textbooks. Student Council is sponsoring a Welcome Back to Fall Social on Friday. Have a grand week!
World History (7th Grade) - We continue with Ancient Egypt this week and we will examine the Old, Middle and New Kingdoms. We will also start investing in the Stock Market Game on Monday. Make sure i-pads are charged up and ready to go when you get to class so we can load textbooks. Have a grand week!
US History (8th Grade) - We will finish the English Colonies this week and move into the Prelude to a Revolution material next week. Friday is the Welcome Back Fall Social, so no class or weekly quiz. Make sure i-pads are charged up and ready to go when you get to class so we can load textbooks. Have a grand week!
Activities
KYA – KYA students will meet this Tuesday October 11 from 2:30 – 3:30 PM. The deadline for scholarship forms is November 7. Registration fees and forms are due November 13. Parent letters will be sent home on October 28 including driver requests and information on the December 15-17 Conference. The cost for the 3 day conference is $250. Y-Club members receive a $10 discount.
Student Council – Student Council will meet Thursday from 2:30 – 3:30 PM in the Science Lab. Major items on the agenda will be the Welcome Back Fall Social scheduled for Friday, new student welcome packets and establishing student, teacher and staff member of the month awards.
Aegean Service Club – Aegean Service members will meet Friday after school from 2:30 – 3:30 PM. We will be helping teachers, collecting recycling and helping with cleanup from the Fall Social.
GSS Press Corps – GSS Press Corps will meet to write, film, edit and produce the next broadcast of the GSS News.
