Middle School SS Newsletter October 24-28, 2016
 
Geography (6^th Grade) – The 6 ^th grade will continue with their study of Halloween.  We will watch the History Channel video on Monday and Tuesday and discuss Ghost Stories and What the Church would like us to know about the holiday, as well as a look at All Saints and All Souls Days.  Wednesday through Friday students will be preparing their 16 Minutes Documentary on Halloween which will be presented on Monday October 31.
 
World History (7^th Grade) – We will finish the material on Ancient Egypt this week, focusing on the Middle and New Kingdoms and Kush and Nubia.  We will also take some time to look at the stock market and check our portfolios in the Stock Market Game.  We should have the textbooks loaded on our ipads and I am expecting you to pick up the slack reading lessons and working on study guides so that we may discuss and refine in class discussion – Be Prepared!
 
US History (8^th Grade) – We will be examining the events leading up to the American Revolution this week.  I will be asking you to do some reading and work on the study guide so we may discuss and refine in class.  When we finish these lessons we will begin with the Timeline of American Revolution where you will make timeline tiles to teach the lesson and use as a resource to study for the test.  Have a grand week!
 
Activities
 
Press Corps – GSS Press Corps will meet in Monday October 24 to finish the next broadcast of the GSS News.  The Meeting will be from 2:30 – 3:30 PM.
 
Math Counts – Math Counts will meet on Monday October 24 from 2:30 – 3:30 PM in the Spanish room.
 
Investors Club – Investors Club will meet on Wednesday October 26 from 2:30 – 3:00 PM.  We will track progress on our portfolios for the Fall contest.
 
Aegean Service – Aegean Service will have a special meeting on Wednesday October 26.  Members will be helping to get the School and Library ready for the Book Fair.  They will meet from 2:30 – 4:00 PM.
 
Academic Team – The Middle School Academic Team will meet Wednesday October 26 from 2:30 – 3:30 PM in the Spanish room.
 
Film Club – Film Club will meet this Thursday and Friday, October 27 & 28, from 2:30 – 3:30 PM.  We will be viewing and discussing classic horror films of the 30’s, 40’s and 50’s.
