Middle School Newsletter September 26-30
 
Social Studies
 
Geography (6^th Grade) - We will finish the unit on Climate and Weather this week and take an exam on Thursday.  Friday we will continue with our Landmark 2 presentations in class.  The weekly extras quiz will be on Friday and will include information from the GSS News.  Hope you have a grand Fall Break!
 
World History (7^th Grade) - We will finish our study of Mesopotamia and take an exam on Tuesday.  We will begin with Egypt on Wednesday and chart the similarities we find with the Fertile Crescent civilizations.  Friday we will have our weekly quiz and then take part in the Ice Cream Social sponsored by Student Council.  Have a grand Fall Break!
 
US History (8^th Grade) - We will continue with our look at the English Colonies this week.  Monday and Tuesday we will watch a video that will try and explain what might have happened in Salem in 1692.  Our i-pads should be ready and loaded with the textbook this week – a handy addition to the course resources.  Friday we will be skipping class to attend the Ice Cream Social sponsored by the Student Council.  Have a great Fall Break!
 
Activities
 
Vintage Gaming Club – The Vintage Gaming Club will meet Monday September 26 from 2:30 – 3:30 PM.  Intelivision Slam Dunk Basketball, NES Duck Hunt and Atari River Raid will be featured.
 
Math Counts – Students participating in math Counts will meet in the Spanish room on Monday September 26 from 2:30 – 3:30 PM.
 
KYA – KYA will meet Tuesday September 27 from 2:30 – 3:30 PM.  Bill ideas will be finalized and writing will begin.  All Y-Club, KYA and KUNA students should have their $10 membership fee in by Wednesday September 28.  The finalized date for our trip to Louisville is December 15 – 17.
 
Academic Team – Middle School Academic Team will meet Wednesday September 28 from 2:30 – 3:30 PM in the Spanish room.
 
Student Council – Student Council will meet on Thursday September 29 from 2:30 – 3:30PM.  Friday’s Ice Cream Social will be the main topic on the agenda.  Committees will also meet and discuss school leadership opportunities and formation of Inter-Club Council.
 
Press Corps / Aegean Service – GSS Press Corps and Aegean Service is cancelled this Friday September 30 to allow students to get an earlier start to Fall Break.  We will return in October.
 
An Ice Cream Social, sponsored by the Student Council, will take place on Friday September 30 from 1:00 to 2:00 pm.  Students in all grades will rotate through stations of water games, field games and frozen treats.  We are hoping this kick starts a fantastic Fall Break.
